#AChillMix | A Rainy Day Playlist

Hello rainy days!

This is the type of weather that most people enjoy while quietly reading and sipping hot chocolate or even binge-watching movies under the comfort of their blankets. But aside from those things, the rainy season also often brings out all of our inner sentis – perfect for some mellow tunes like these:

#1– Tayo Lang Ang May Alam (2014) – Peryodiko

Matching the pouring of the rain is the pouring of Peryodiko’s heart in “Tayo Lang Ang May Alam.” Quick fun fact: it is said that this hard-hitting song was written in response to Up Dharma Down’s “Indak” – another piece that definitely resonated to all confused listeners when it comes to matters of the heart. So if you liked that particular UDD song, you definitely should check this one out!

Quotable line – “Tayo lang ang nakakaalam / Nando’n sa pagitan ng paalam at pahiram”

#2– Nothing Really Matters (2014) – Mr. Probz

Who says all senti songs have to be so heart-achingly sad? Mr. Probz’s Nothing Really Matters is a really sweet and underrated piece that speaks about a love so clearly pure and true that – as you’ve guessed – nothing really matters aside from it. If you’re in the mood for deep expressions of love, then this one’s for you!

Quotable line –“I know what it feels like / I know what it feels like / Swimming through the stars when I see her / And I don’t need air ’cause I breathe her”

#3– Say You Won’t Let Go (2016) – James Arthur

Despite its seemingly sad title, James Arthur’s Say You Won’t Let Go is actually a beautiful tale that tells the story of a love that evolved through time. What started out as an awkward crush ended up being a great love story that will give you warm and fuzzy feelings. This song’s indeed perfect for the #cuddleweather with your special someone! So hit play and let’s melt our hearts together!

Quotable line – “I’m so in love with you / And I hope you know / Darling your love is more than worth its weight in gold”

#4– Tagpuan (2018) – Moira Dela Torre

Similar to its predecessors on the list, Moira’s Tagpuan is another break from the stereotype that rainy days are for sad things! Enjoy the littlest things like watching the raindrops fall against the windowpane with your special someone while listening to this enchanting song about a true answered prayer. Plus, it’s Moira! So, come on, you know you’ll love it!

Quotable line –“At nakita kita sa tagpuan ni Bathala / May kinang sa mata na di maintindihan”

#5– Di na Muli (2018) – Janine Teñoso

Originally sung by Itchyworms, upcoming sensation Janine Teñoso gave Di na Muli a new interpretation with the same amount of melancholy and pure heartache. The song deals with regrets and passed times that can never be taken back. Don’t worry, you can always listen to it under the rain to mask your tears. We definitely feel you!

Quotable line – “Ang oras kapag hinayaang lumipas / Madarama mo hanggang bukas / Di mababawi muli”

Whether you’re a true-to-heart romantic or a sawi for life, there are many songs around to satisfy your rainy day blues! Chillax while listening to these hits at home with the love of your life or in transit while reflecting on your #foreveralone status (hey, no worries! Who knows? Soon, you just might go from Tayo Lang Ang May Alam to Tagpuan real quick!)
